Indochina is clearly a hotspot of primate diversity, endemism and, unfortunately, threat. Based on the Red List workshop for Asia's primates conducted in 2006, of 28 primate taxa currently recognized in the area, fully eight are Critically Endangered, eleven Endangered and seven vulnerable . This means that more than 90 % of all taxa in the region are threatened with extinction, the highest level for any region on earth. In this current volume the contributors of this most up-to-date work relating to the species of the region provide a good overview about the status of primate taxa in Indochina and the knowledge about their biology.
