Untersuchungen über den Einfluss von Jungtieren auf die Paarbindung
by Mathias Orgeldinger
The study provides for the first time a complete and representative description of the behavioral repertoire of a gibbon species. It shows that Siamangs lead a harmonious married life in which both partners are largely equal. The parents meet their children with almost limitless tolerance and affection, so that they have little time left for the partner relationship.
Although the Siamangs have little gender differences purely externally and in large parts of their behavior, territorial behavior is characterized by a clear differentiation of roles.
